Therapy that helps you come back to yourself.

Psychotherapy for adults in Ohio navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, dissociation, identity, and the feeling that somewhere along the way, you lost contact with your own inner compass.

I offer EMDR, parts work, mindfulness, and body-aware psychotherapy in a collaborative, affirming space.

Who I Work With

I work with adults with a wide range of concerns, but I especially enjoy working with LGBTQ+ people, men, trauma survivors, and people who feel disconnected from themselves or unsure of what they actually want.

You might understand your patterns intellectually and still find yourself repeating them. You might notice different parts of you pulling in opposite directions. Or you may simply have the sense that the life you are living no longer quite fits.

I frequently work with people experiencing:

  • Trauma and complex trauma

  • Dissociation and disconnection

  • Anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm

  • LGBTQ+ identity and relationship concerns

  • Shame, self-criticism, and difficult relationship patterns

  • Life transitions, identity questions, and feeling lost or stuck

You do not have to know exactly what is wrong or arrive with perfectly articulated goals. Part of therapy can be figuring that out together.

What I Help With

Sometimes therapy is about helping you get through what is happening right now. We might work on practical skills for anxiety, depression, anger, overwhelm, or nervous-system regulation.

And sometimes the work needs to go deeper. Using EMDR, parts work, mindfulness, and body-based awareness, we can work with trauma, old beliefs, protective patterns, and unresolved experiences underneath the symptoms.

I think of diagnosis as a flashlight, not a tattoo. It can help illuminate what is happening and guide treatment, but it is never the whole story of who you are.

What if there is not something fundamentally wrong with you?

Therapy can become less about fixing yourself and more about understanding what has gotten in the way of the wholeness that is already here.

What Therapy With Me Is Like

I try to bring together what is clinically useful and deeply human.

I am not a blank-slate therapist. I listen carefully, and I will also tell you what I am noticing. I may ask questions, offer perspectives, teach skills, point out patterns, or gently challenge you when I think something important is happening.

At the same time, therapy with me is highly collaborative and consent-oriented. I want you to understand why I am suggesting something, and I want us to regularly ask whether the work we are doing is actually helping.

Some sessions may be structured and focused. Others may require slowing down and listening carefully to what is happening inside.

The goal is not for me to become another voice telling you how you are supposed to live.

The goal is to help you hear your own voice more clearly.

Meet Evan

I’m Evan Wilkerson, MSW, LISW.

For more than a decade, mindfulness and contemplative practice have been part of both my personal life and professional work. Alongside psychotherapy, I have taught mindfulness and iRest in community, educational, healthcare, correctional, and professional settings.

As a therapist, I integrate EMDR, parts work, mindfulness, cognitive and behavioral approaches, and an understanding of the nervous system and body.

I’m warm, curious, active, and fairly direct. I also believe therapy works best when both people in the room are allowed to be people.

Therapy can be practical and profound at the same time.
